Reconciliation
Deepen Your Knowledge: The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation (also known as just Reconciliation or Confession) provides mercy, healing, and renewal for those seeking forgiveness for their sins. This sacrament is available to all baptized Catholics.
Reconciliation Preparation
Children through High School Age: Children at All Saints Parish Reigious Educatoin Faith Formation Program receive their first Sacrament of Reconciliation in second grade. Our program and Archdiocese requires a two year preparation process. The first year is religious education program or attending a Catholic school which is followed by detailed sacrament preparation in second grade. This sacrament is celebrated usually in early December.
Adults 18 years and Older: Adults prepare for their First Reconciliation through the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA). These Candidates start their preparation in the fall and receive this sacrament before the Easter Vigil Mass.
Eucharist
Deepen Your Knowledge: Jesus Christ shares himself with us through the Holy Eucharist. The act by which we receive the Eucharist is called Holy Communion. Baptized Catholics living in the state of grace can receive Holy Communion at every Mass. Those receiving Holy Communion should not receive the Sacrament without confessing any grave sins, and they should fast for one hour beforehand. Please reference the Mass Schedule for a Mass time that best suits your family.
Eucharistic Preparation: First Communion
Children: Children at All Saints Religious Education Faith Formation Program receive their First Communion each spring towards the end of second grade. These children must be Baptized and have two years of religious faith formation either in a parochial school or parish religious education program before they can receive this sacrament. Parents are involved in the preparation of the child(ren) for First Communion.
Adults 18 years and Older: Adults prepare for their First Communion through the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA). These Candidates start their preparation in the fall and receive this sacrament before the Easter Vigil Mass.
Communion for Those Who Cannot Attend Mass Parishioners who are homebound or in nursing homes or hospitals can remain closely united to the Lord Jesus through regular reception of Holy Communion. Ministers of Holy Communion bring Communion to You. Please contact the parish office at 847-967-1060 or via email at [email protected] if you would like to receive Holy Communion at home or when you are hospitalized through the Ministers of Care.
Confirmation
Deepen Your Knowledge: Confirmation seals a person with the gifts of the Holy Spirit for a lifetime of missionary discipleship. A baptized person needs to be an active and practicing Catholic, knowledgeable about the basic teachings of our faith, and have completed a preparation program to receive this sacrament.
Confirmation Preparation
Children: Children in the Religious Education Faith Formation Program receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Spring of 8th grade. These children must prepare for the sacrament for two years. Starting in 7th grade there is a service component along with their regular religion curriculum, and 8th graders focus on the Confirmation Spiritual Year. They prepare by being involved in service projects for the church, community and/or family, attending Mass on weekends and Holy Days, having their parents participate in the program, and attending religion classes.
Adult 18 and Older: Adults in Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation (and the sacraments of Baptism and First Eucharist if needed) at the Easter Vigil Mass. The preparation for this sacrament is 7 months.
