God’s word in the Scriptures needs a human voice. Our proclaimers of the word take on the crucial role of helping God’s word be heard.
 
At Mass, our lectors proclaim the first and second readings. It’s more than just reading, however. Their prayer, preparation, and proclamation are a crucial part of our vibrant liturgies and helping God’s word be heard. They read the Scriptures in a way that reveals their meaning and deepens the community’s understanding of what God is saying. Often, lectors also raise the community’s prayers to God by leading the intercessions, the Prayers of the Faithful
 
We welcome all those in 8th grade or older to consider being a part of this powerful ministry.
 
A one-hour training session is provided, and each lector receives a workbook that can be used at home to better understand the readings and prepare to read them.
