Liturgy can be complicated; altar servers make sure everything runs smoothly so God’s people can focus on worship.

The primary responsibility of altar servers is to assist the priest at Mass on weekends, but servers also assist on some holy days, holidays, as well as at weddings and funerals. Volunteering to serve makes it easier for everyone to concentrate on the Mass and allows the server to have a deeper appreciation for what happens at Sunday worship. Altar Servers are required to handle liturgical objects with reverence, be attentive to the details of the liturgy, and arrive early at the liturgies at which they’re scheduled. Boys and girls in grade 4 through high school with a willingness to serve are eligible to participate. Training sessions are held at the beginning and end of the school year.
